Zombie (9pm) & Return of the Living Dead (12am)
Friday, August 7
Spider House (2908 Fruth St)
Free admission, Food & Drink Specials
[info] [tickets] Zombies get a bad rap. It’s not like they DECIDED they wanted to be undead. They just got sucker punched (which is to say “bitten”) by a friend that looked a little under the weather, and bam, now they want your brains. Whattayagonnado?

Seriously, think about it. Vampires get the whole “suave, sexy, and mysterious” thing, werewolves are really tough and badass, but are ruled by their animal urges so they're tormented about it or whatever, but zombies are just like the one kid that never got picked for sports, never spoke, and basically spent sixth grade licking dried glue off his hand. 28 Days Later aside (God bless you, Danny Boyle), they’re almost always big and stupid and slow-moving and basically get zero respect.

Friday night all that changes…for a little while, anyway. Friday night these poor undead basterds are getting some solid screen time as Spider House Café teams up the with film geniuses at I Luv Video (some might call them nerds, but we don’t condone that kind of language, and besides nerds are in, ahem, as we keep telling everyone) to show Zombie and Return of the Living Dead. Catch them on the big screen on the back patio as part of their Midnight Movies Series.

If you’ve got some crazy day job and have to get up the next day, don’t worry—you don’t have to wait till midnight to see a good zombie flick. As per their usual protocol (double features every night all summer long!), the first film will start at 9 p.m. and the second at midnight, with plenty of old movie trailers and other fun things in between. Oh, and did we mention the food and drink specials?

If you’re sick of the latest cutesy RomCom and are more in the mood for some good old-fashioned brain-eating, flesh-peeling, slow-moving zombie-ness, head down to Spider House. We suggest you get there early. Zombie fans, unlike Zombies, can move pretty darn fast.
